Minneapolis—May 17, 2012—Dr. Óscar Arias Sánchez, former president of Costa Rica and 1987 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, will be the keynote speaker at Walden University’s 48th Commencement on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, in Minneapolis. Championing
issues such as human development, democracy and demilitarization, Dr.
Arias has traveled worldwide spreading a message of peace and applying
the lessons learned from the Central American peace process to topics of
current global debate.

Digital Technology Impact for Social Change Survey
Previously has been
reported that Walden University has conducted a global survey about the phenomenon of users who use technology on social change and community. And according to
the global survey, men are more likely than women to use mobile devices in
particular for the use of text messages related to positive social change
issues, particularly in Mexico (23% vs. 16% female), United States (7% vs. 4%)
, France (7% vs. 1%), Japan (5% vs. 2%) and Germany (4% vs. 1%).

involvement in social activities. The Global Survey is Studying how Social Change has become a Phenomenon
The online survey is conducted for the Walden University by Harris Interactive in September 2011 that includes the perspective of more than 12,000 adults in Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Britain, India, Japan, Mexico, Spain and the United States.

Walden University celebrated the accomplishments of more than 4,700 graduates from 39 countries—from Afghanistan and Australia to Saudi Arabia and Serbia—at its 46th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, July 30.
President Bill Clinton, founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation and 42nd president of the United States, spoke to the graduates saluting their commitment to higher education while urging them to turn good intentions into positive change.
